Peter not the head of the Church!
Never was, never will be!
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Let’s look at the verse a little closer, let’s rewrite with 2 changes!
Thou art petros, and upon this petra I will build my church
Petros means a piece of the rock
Petra means massive rock
From the Old Testament we learn that God used the term “Rock” a few times, and in the new Testament we know that the Rock is not Dwayne Johnson, but Jesus Christ!
I will not list all the places, but rest assured Christ is that Rock, let Him not be your stumbling stone!!!
Peter, like you and me are little petros who make up the church.
So what Jesus was doing in the verse above was he started to talk to and about Peter, and then made reference to himself as the corner stone of the Church!
I will list a few passages and you tell me who they make reference to?
Psa_118:22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
Isa_28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
Jer_51:26 And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD.
Mat_21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Mar_12:10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
Luk_20:17 And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?
Act_4:11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
