Adam the first Security guard!

Gen 2:15  And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

The Hebrew word for “Keep It” is

שָׁמַר

shâmar

shaw-mar'

A primitive root; properly to hedge about (as with thorns), that is, guard; generally to protect, attend to, etc.: - beware, be circumspect, take heed (to self), keep (-er, self), mark, look narrowly, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save (self), sure, (that lay) wait (for), watch (-man).

So he was given the task to guard the Garden of Eden from intruders, to protect God’s property.

But failed, once Eve opened the door and let Lucifer in, instead of calling his Supervisor he too befriended Lucifer.

Hence they were both fired and removed from the premises and God set up other guards to KEEP it from man this time!

Gen 3:23  Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

Gen 3:24  So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

The Adam’s then became farmers don’t you know!
