Christ Jesus lifted up on the cross just like that old brazen serpent!
Joh 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
The brazen serpent typified Christ Jesus who was sinless yet took on our sins that we may live.
2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
In Moses’ day those who confessed their sin and prayed looked up to the serpent and were healed and lived.
God did not supply any other means of salvation, no pills, not shots, just plain old faith in looking up to the brazen serpent was required! Those that believed lived, they were healed on the spot!
Same applies today God has not supplied any other means of salvation, but plain old faith that Christ died on the cross in out stead so that we may live forever.
Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Confession of sin and prayer were necessary to obtain the benefits of the brazen serpent
Num 21:7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
Same applies today except we look to the cross and what Christ saved us from! Death and Hell!
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
